Accelerated Reader (AR)

ACCELERATED READER is a phenomenal reading program that is being used in every classroom at Lighthouse!

There are three steps to AR at school:

• First, students take AR reading assessments each trimester in order to determine their AR reading range (known as a ZPD).
• Second, students choose and read an AR book in their specific ZPD.  Teachers guide and monitor the books read  for each student in their class.  After the student has read their book they take a quiz using the iPads linked to the Accelerated Reader website.
• Third, the teacher receives information back that is intended to assist,  monitor progress and target instruction for each individual reader.

As a parent, you can Log in to AR Home Connect.  This tool connects the school and home to keep parents informed of their child’s progress toward Accelerated Reader, and encourages the child to practice reading at home.

Click on AR Book Find to check if a particular book has an AR Quiz and to see its reading level.
