Hi! My name is Nicole Marchal and I’m thrilled to be part of the Lighthouse team again this year as a 5th grade teacher!
I’m originally from Placer County where I grew up in the small town of Penryn. After high school I had the opportunity to live in Germany as a Rotary Youth Scholar for a year before returning to California for university. I received my B.A. in Anthropology with a minor in German from UC Berkeley in 2011. I worked in marketing for a couple years before deciding to become an ESL teacher. What was planned to only be a year-long adventure, turned into three as I spent first two years in South Korea and then an additional year in Brazil. It was during this time that I discovered my love of teaching and made the decision to pursue a career in education. My experiences internationally have created a desire in me to introduce my students to the very diverse world that we are a part of. I recently graduated from the teaching credential program at Sac State and this year at Lighthouse will be my first-year teaching in my own classroom!
When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time reading, playing board games, spending time with family and friends, playing the piano, and thinking about my next travel destination.
