School Site Council Ballots

Hello Lighthouse Families,

A couple of weeks ago, I sent out a notice asking you all to apply for School Site Council if you were interested.  As previously stated, we have space for three parents on the School Site Council.

Below, you will find the names of the applicants and a little bit about each one.

Marinda Burton, Kindergarten parent

“I have worked in education for the last 11 years. Much of that experience has been specific to the programs supported by categorical state and federal funding. I would love to bring this experience to help my son’s school make the most efficient and productive use of funding. Let’s use that funding to provide robust educational programs for all our students.”

Kirsten Yeates, TK and 1st grade parent

“Having worked with multiple school districts previously, I can attest to the value of the collaborative culture and family participation that Lighthouse provides. I work as an advocate for a nonprofit serving families of children with disabilities and have extensive public sector and public policy experience. My prior job included seven years allocating state funds, and creating/implementing communication plans for effective statewide outreach. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the School Site Council. As a parent of two Lighthouse students, I am committed to supporting the long-term academic success of our school for all students.”

Katie Kanowsky Souza, 2nd grade parent

“I don’t want a chair on the council. However, I would really like to be involved and support the council in any and all ways possible. Please make sure that I am on the email list for meetings and information. Thank you!”

Jaclyn Kennedy, TK Parent

As a new resident of West Sacramento, I believe I can bring fresh perspective to the School Site Council at LCS.  I have experience in elementary education including data collection and analysis of student performance goals.  Because I have been a classroom teacher, and am now a parent, I understand both perspectives.  I’ve lived all over the country and worked in multiple school districts including high and low performing, with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations. I’m adaptable, outgoing, self-motivated and truly have the students’ best interests in mind.  I am proud to be a part of Lighthouse Charter School!

Please vote for three of the following four parents to be your representatives for School Site Council, and return this form to your child’s teacher or to the office by Monday, September 28, 2015.

Your name_____________________________ Your child’s name _________________________ Grade ______

_____ Marinda Burton

_____ Kirsten Yeates

_____ Katie Kanowsky Souza

_____ Jaclyn Kennedy

NOTE: If your child is in TK, you received a ballot today that did not have all the applicants on it.  You will receive a new one tomorrow that matches this one. All four applicants turned their applications in on time, but I personally misplaced one, and that is why there were only 3 people on the first ballot. I am so sorry for the confusion.
