Our new board member!

There is SO much going on at River Charter Schools!  As many of you know, I resigned from my position on our school board to accept the position as your principal.  Well, the board decided that Lighthouse should have a voice on the board and I am excited to welcome our own Megan Bennett to the River Charter Schools Board.  Megan has been a great advocate for our students and staff and I’m sure she will continue to do so as a member of the board.  Megan’s new responsibilities require her to step down from her former position as Lighthouse’s PTC President.  Fortunately for us, our vice-president, Amanda Stevens will be stepping into that role and I have great confidence that it will be a smooth transition.  Because of these changes, an election will be held at the next general PTC meeting on January 30th for a new Vice President. The Vice-President serves a vital role on the PTC Board, serving as the chief fundraiser, including as the Chair of the Spring Art Auction. As with all Board positions, it is a volunteer position that serves an integral part in growing our school. Should you have any questions please contact any PTC Board member (Amanda Stevens, Andrea Johnson, Marie Kit, Kirsten Yeates, Michele Pagaduan, Kiowa Borja) or email lighthousecharterptc@gmail.com.

In other news, we are currently FULL at all grade levels and have begun the process of creating waitlists.  It’s an exciting time here at Lighthouse as we bring several new families into the Lighthouse family.  I want to thank all of you who have been so welcoming during my first two weeks here at Lighthouse.  It is an honor to be your principal and I look forward to chatting with you all soon.  Please feel free to email me at jfreeland@lighthousecharterschool.org or call at (916) 744-1212
