Dear LCS Families, Staff & Students,
It is my sincere pleasure to introduce myself as your new principal. I am looking forward to meeting each and every one of you as I familiarize myself with Lighthouse. I have been an educator for over 20 years teaching a variety of subjects from grades 2 through 8. During that time, I have been with the Elk Grove, Rio Linda, and most recently, the Twin Rivers Unified School Districts. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies with a Minor in Public Relations in 1991 from California State University, Sacramento followed by a Master of Science in Instructional Leadership in 1993. Throughout my career, I have served in multiple leadership roles including Assistant Principal, Summer School Principal and GATE Coordinator. I also have extensive experience in curriculum development, student teacher supervision and teacher mentoring.
I know many of you have worked hard to make this school a reality and I want you all to know that I am dedicated to making sure that we continue to thrive. I am no stranger to the River Charter Schools organization as I have served on the board for the past year and a half. I also have 3 children currently attending DECS in Clarksburg. Throughout my time on the board, and the last 5 years as a parent within the River Charter Schools family, I have worked with dedicated parents, teachers and community members who believe, as I do, that this is a very special and unique organization. I believe in the focus on a well-rounded education that includes a rich arts and music program. Additionally, I fully support using project based learning to enhance a student’s particular individual strengths. This process encourages confidence and promotes further academic success.
Personally, I enjoy coaching my 7-year-old daughter Emmie’s soccer team, leading my 8-year-old son Logan’s Cub Scout den, helping my 10-year-old son Joey with his Webelo Scout projects, and playing trains with my 2-year-old son Milo. I also love spending time with my best friend and wife of 12 years, Julia.
I want to thank those that I have already met for the warm welcome and I look forward to meeting all of you in the coming weeks. I encourage you to attend our Coffee and Conversation event on Monday November 28 at 8:30 am or our Meet and Greet event that night at 5:30 pm. It will be a great chance for me to get to meet all of you and answer any questions or concerns you might have.
