Dear River Charter Schools Community,
We are pleased to inform you that we have finalized the Superintendent selection process. Our Board engaged the services of Leadership Associates, a statewide leader in superintendent search processes. Leadership Associates assisted us in recruiting candidates for the position, screening the best candidates for interview and completing reference checks. Most importantly Leadership Associates helped to ensure that the Board conducted a thorough and diligent search and selection process focused on the needs of our school communities as gathered through stakeholder input earlier this year. We interviewed three outstanding candidates last week and selected Mr. Matt Taylor. The Board took action and approved Mr. Taylor’s contract on Monday May 4th at our regularly scheduled meeting.
Matt has most recently served as the Director of Data, Analytics and Strategy at Fortune Schools, where he has played an integral part in shaping and streamlining processes across multiple school sites. He also serves as a Trustee for the Yolo County Office of Education representing West Sacramento students and families. Matt previously worked for the California Charter Schools Association as Director of Research and the California Department of Education as the Administrator of the Evaluation, Research and Analysis team, which helped charter schools across the state focus on continuous improvement. Mr.Taylor’s skills and experience, as well as his enthusiasm for education, will keep River Charter Schools on the path of continuous improvement while maintaining our charter’s vision. We will have a virtual meet and greet session with Mr. Taylor in June and he will be reaching out to RCS staff in the weeks to come. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Taylor to the RCS family.
While we are excited to see Mr. Taylor take the helm of River Charter Schools on June 1, 2020, we also want to recognize the many outstanding contributions of Steve Lewis. When Mr. Lewis began at Delta Elementary Charter School in 2010, there were only 219 students enrolled. Since that time the River Charter Schools organization was created, Lighthouse Charter School opened in two churches and then moved to its new home on a brand new campus. River Charter Schools now educates more than 815 students in grades TK-8. Please join us in thanking Mr. Lewis for his contributions to RCS.
We hope you are all healthy and well during these unprecedented times. Thank you for your support and patience during this time.
